RACE 2 - SLICK BLASTER
Hasn't had an ounce of luck in two starts this preparation and trainer-drive Bruce Harpley looks to have found an ideal race to break through. Was inconvenienced when resuming at Junee before being held-up at a crucial stage last start at the same track. Should find the front from the favourable draw and looms as the bet of the night.
RACE 4 - TAY TAY
Has been taking on some of the best juveniles on offer in Victoria and drops back sharply in grade. Won three starts back before taking on the cream of the 2YO crop in Ladies In Red who has won nine of ten. Driver Alex Ashwood has a second row draw to contend with but if Tay Tay does everything right, she should be winning this.
RACE 5 - BEAT CITY
Beat City has been racing against some of the best 4YO's in the land and is yet to disgrace himself. Was beaten 13.9m in a mile rate of 1:51.2 at Melton last start in group one company which is a terrific form point for a race like this. Was also good enough to sit outside the leader and win two starts back at Mildura. Will take a power of beating in the cup.
RACE 8 - ENCRYPTION
I'm confident that we will be well in front heading into the last race and am prepared to take a risk and back Encryption. Is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde gelding who has ability but tends to do a bit wrong in his races. The race looks like a bit of a lottery but trainer Danny Thackery couldn't have wished for an easier race for his wayward pacer.
