And a priority of that plan will be to move the obstetric services to a single campus.

Member for Albury Justin Clancy announced $300,000 from the state government to deliver the Albury Wodonga Health masterplan had been fast tracked to enable planning to begin immediately for future infrastructure projects.

AWH chairman Matt Burke said the funding to deliver the plan had come "at the right time" as the board has just endorsed the health service's clinical service plan.

"What can you say when you get a windfall like $300,000 - it is like winning lotto," he said.

"This money is going to go a long way to getting us a masterplan to tell us what we need to do to improve our services, that are badly needed because we just can't keep up with what we have at the moment, in the next 20 to 30 years.

"We would like to have the masterplan completed by September or October this year so we can really hit the ground running straight after that."

AWH chief executive Michael Kalimnios said the clinical services plan had been three months in the making and focused on what the health service would need in the future.

"It is in its final stages and we hope to release that more broadly in the next few weeks," he said. "So people can really get a look at some of the services that we are intending and need to develop to meet the needs of the community.

"We all know we provide obstetric services on the other side of the river so there is some challenges with that in terms of efficiency and clinical safety. One of our first priorities would be to look at relocating obstetric services to a single campus."

Mr Kalimnios said the masterplan would address a number of issues that had been talked about in the community for a long time.

"For example the greenfield site versus the brownfield site, what's most appropriate in terms of developing the infrastructure and we need that to be done fairly quickly," he said.

"Areas we will focus on include developing intervention cardiology services, a 24 hours 7 day a week service is probably one of the first things we need to address - it is only run on an elective and part time basis at the moment.

"The clinical services plan does do some really good work in looking at population projections over the short, medium and long term.

"As you know Albury-Wodonga is fast-growing and we must make sure our health services match what we need."
