The NSW Department of Education confirmed on Saturday that while schools north of the border in towns such as Albury will remain open, Victorian staff and students must stay home during the five-day "circuit breaker" lockdown.
"Students and staff who are unable to attend school due to the lockdown will be supported to learn and work from home," a department statement said.
"Principals will work closely with families to provide appropriate learning support for students not able to attend school.
"While these restrictions remain in place, NSW students and staff are discouraged from travelling to Victoria.

"People who do choose to travel will be required to follow the stay-at-home requirement on their return."
St Patrick's Parish School Albury said their directive from Catholic Schools NSW was also for Victorian staff and students to stay home.
"Our current advice is that any Victorian residents attending schools in NSW (students and staff) are to abide by the lockdown order, and therefore should not be travelling to school," the school posted on their social media account.
"As per the previous lockdown order, schools are expected to provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories: children whose parents are considered essential workers as listed, cannot work from home and where no other supervision arrangements can be made."
