Police believe the incident was witnessed by the driver of a silver single-cab Ford, towing a 6x4 trailer with a cage, and have urged the person to come forward to help investigators.

The Ford was forced to take evasive action as it was driving south towards the offending car, driving to the left of the fog line to prevent a head on collision.

Leading Senior Constable Neil Hobbs said a blue Ford ute crossed double white lines to overtake a white Triton ute on the Kiewa Valley Highway, just north of John Schubert Drive, last Monday about 4pm - almost forcing the Triton off the road.

Prior to overtaking the driver of the blue Ford was allegedly tailgating the victim on the Yackandandah-Wodonga Road and followed the victim to the intersection near the North Bandiana Army Base on Anzac Parade where it stopped at a red light.

Police allege the offender then got out of his car, approaching the victim's car and banging on his window threatening to rip his "f****** head off".

Police have interviewed the driver of the blue ute who faces 10 charges including: reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive manner dangerous, crossing double lines, threat in inflict serious injury and other traffic offences.

The incident was caught on dashcam footage.

Leading Senior Constable Hobbs said the incident could have killed or seriously harmed innocent people.

He said the victim was very traumatised and drove straight to police to report the incident.
