The teenager defeated a more experienced opponent, Wodonga's Josh Rudd, 25-16, in a high quality final at YMGCR on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Cromie got past Wangaratta's Tom Morrow in the semi-finals, while Rudd eliminated Swanpool's Lance Bradshaw to reach the decider.

The women's state singles final will be contested at YMGCR this weekend with Wodonga's Kylie Whitehead to take on Wangaratta's Jodie Fruend.

Whitehead was too strong for Benalla's Kerri Leask in the semi-finals, while Fruend got past Yackandandah's Mary Tragardh.

The Ovens and Murray Champion of Champion men's singles was also decided as Wangaratta's Ian Brimblecombe survived a late charge from Wodonga's Mason Bayliss to claim victory, 25-21.

Brimblecombe led by as many as eight shots, but Bayliss clawed his way back to three behind before Brimblecombe picked up the one shot he required to clinch the title.

In the semi-finals, Brimblecombe defeated Corowa RSL's Ken Widdison, while Bayliss toppled Swanpool's Doug Stewart.

Tragardh remains in contention for the women's champion of champion singles crown and takes on Wangaratta's Peta Mattys in the semi-final on Sunday.

The winner will progress to play Benalla's Sharon Warfe after she overcame Myrtleford's Cheryl Lewis.

It's a big weekend for the region with YMGCR to also play host to the mixed pairs semi-finals and final.

Brimblecombe will look to continue his strong form and defend the mixed title with YMGCR's Anne Miles.

Kiewa Valley's Bill James and Deb Crothers, Yarrawonga's Tim Cromie and Evelyn Calder and Wangaratta's Ethan Fruend and Rhoanna Smith complete the draw.

Meanwhile, Ovens and Murray's clash against Goulburn Valley scheduled for March 7 has been cancelled.

Both have experienced disrupted seasons and opted not to play to allow the completion of state events.
