IN OTHER NEWS:
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Matthew Thomas said above average rainfall was a consistent trend across Victoria.
"That's consistent with the La Nina weather pattern we've had," he said.
"It was pretty well on average in terms of (maximum) temperatures and that is also consistent with a La Nina pattern.
"In previous summers we've seen temperatures significantly above average, but being a La Nina year, the temperatures are coming back close to the long term average with a little bit more cloud and a little bit more rainfall about.
"The La Nina pattern is the significant factor throughout the summer providing higher than average rainfall for the North East and temperatures close to the long term average."
Mr Thomas said early predictions expect similar conditions across the region at the start of Autumn.
"The current La Nina is forecast to end during autumn and La Nina typically increases the likelihood of above average rainfall across eastern Australia during early autumn," he said.
