Schnitzel von Crumb was dumped at a local vet, riddled with terminal cancer that had spread from his mouth to his internal organs.
IN OTHER NEWS:
He was handed over to the Glenfield Road Animal Shelter, before being taken in by Jessica Weir from the Riverina and District Animal Rescue, who took pity on the small dog.
Vets believe Schnitzel von Crumb only has a few months left to live at best, but Ms Weir was determined to make his final days on earth the best he has ever experienced.
"You can't say no to that face," Ms Weir said.
"We needed ideas on how we can make his last couple of weeks - months, hopefully - the best he's ever had, and we've had an amazing response from our whole community, which is just so heartwarming."
Hundreds of pet lovers from all over Wagga pitched in their suggestions, with some donating money, treats, and dog toys.
One of them was Dog Star Pet Grooming's Catherine Jones, who offered to give Schnitzel von Crumb a relaxing spa and pampering session.
"We're going to give him a nice warm bath, dry him off, give him a nice groom, and get rid of his dead hair, just so he feels special," Ms Jones said.
Over the last few days Schnitzel von Crumb has been receiving a thorough pampering, with all the treats, pets, and walks he can handle.
He has ran around in a farm, gone on playdates with other puppies, and fed all the bacon and hamburger he can eat.
Next Wednesday the newly opened Pucci Treats will be throwing a party for Schnitzel von Crumb with custom dog cake in order to celebrate his life.
If he is still alive by the end of the month he will be the guest of honour at the Walk for RADAR on March 28, when he will be taken around Apex Park so he can meet his hundreds of wellwishers.
