The Financial Review has reported Mrs Mirabella, who lost her seat in the federal parliament in 2013, is one of five commissioners to be selected by Industrial Relations Minister, Christian Porter.
If appointed to the commission, Mrs Mirabella could earn upwards of $387,000.
The appointment has not been ticked off by cabinet.
After unsuccessfully trying to win back the seat of Indi from independent Cathy McGowan at the 2016 election, Mrs Mirabella secured a job with Gina Rinehart.
Mrs Mirabella was a supporter of Prime Minister John Howard's WorkChoices legislation when Indi MP.
She declined to comment when contacted by The Border Mail.
