A 29-year-old man, who remains in hospital, has been charged with offences including home invasion and serious assault matters.
He remains under police guard in hospital after being remanded in custody during a bedside hearing.
The victim, 63, remains in hospital with serious injuries including a badly lacerated leg, lacerations to his arms and hands, and has undergone several surgeries.
He has also had a bleed on the brain.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It's alleged the lacerations were caused by an axe.
Detectives still need to speak to the victim, and have been unable to do so due to his condition.
Rodney Clarke, 53, was previously charged and bailed over his alleged involvement and will return to Wangaratta court on July 1.
The man in his 20s will also face court on July 1.
Police believe the trio, who live in the area, are known to each other.
"We're not looking for anyone else," Detective Senior Constable James Howarth said.
"There's no reason for the public to be concerned.
"It's a dispute among three parties which has ended in the alleged assaults."
