Police are awaiting blood test results after a drink driver crashed in the North East, narrowly avoiding a tree.

The Melbourne man, 25, had planned to return home from a wedding in the early hours of Sunday.
His car left the Snow Road near Merriang Gap Road at Whorouly about 3am.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It travelled about 100 metres off the road after failing to take a bend and hit a fence post, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Police said the man was "extremely lucky" he didn't hit the tree.
The 25-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution after returning a reading more the double the limit, and close to triple the limit.
Investigators will await blood test results before pressing charges.
