It won't take long.
Apparently the Yarrawonga star and red wine can be a destructive mix at weddings, while one of his former coaches says he wasted a lot of his parents Rod and Maryanne's money by going to a private school in Melbourne.
"The only time that I've seen him fall apart on or off the ground is when he drinks red wine at a wedding," Leslie's second premiership coach Chris Kennedy said.
"I can't think of another flaw."
If Leslie isn't already, the tough midfielder will become Yarrawonga royalty when he plays his 300th match for the club against Lavington at Mulwala's Lonsdale Reserve on Sunday.
Ken 'Pascoe' Ellis (265), John Ryan (245), Craig Ednie (226), Russell Ednie (216) and Marcus McMillan (212) are the only players to reach the double hundred while Tyler Bonat and Scott Oswald are inching towards the milestone.
Leslie was a standout while schooling in Melbourne, picking up 52 possessions opposed to former St Kilda player Andrew McQualter in an under-age match.
It led to him trying out at Carlton with legend having it he was squeezed out of a spot on the Blues' list by Eddie Betts.
Whatever the case, the Pigeons were the big winners with Leslie returning to J.C. Lowe Oval where he's played in three premierships, won two best and fairests and a Morris Medal.
Since debuting in 2002, almost 40 of his matches have been finals.
"Xave's loyalty to the footy club and durability stand out to me," Leslie's former coach and teammate Craig Ednie said.
"He's always been around except for a few years when he wasted all that money going to a private school in Melbourne.
"He's one of those blokes who if the side plays well he plays well and if the side plays badly he still plays well.
"A lot of opposition clubs I played against didn't like me or other Yarrawonga players but Xave is one of those likeable people who opposition supporters never had a problem with.
"The only problem I've ever had with Xave is that he doesn't shout and buys clothes without pockets.
"It's a big thing for a footy club to have a player reach 300 games as clubs like Wangaratta Rovers have a few of them.
"Xave's in a league of his own and I can't see anyone catching him."
Former Wangaratta Rovers and Corowa-Rutherglen defender Matt Allen holds the league record with 416 games.
North Albury's Dan Leslie and Corowa-Rutherglen's Kade Kuschert are the most recent players to notch up 300 matches and receive league life membership.
Leslie, 35, is revered at Yarrawonga for getting hands on the ball in heavy traffic with former coach Peter Seymour marveling at his ability to rack up possessions.
"I reckon he could go out and try not to get the footy and he'd still find it 30 times," Seymour said.
"He's been an absolute ball magnet.
"You often see kids at a young age dominate and continually get the ball but after a while they get found out as they go through the age groups.
"Xave's just remained the same.
"He's a freak of a bloke who just knocks up getting the footy and he doesn't seem to go into overdrive doing it.
"He sits his head on the footy all day long and is a unique set of gear.
"As far as Ovens and Murray footy goes, what an ambassador."
Kennedy, who co-coached Yarrawonga to two flags with Drew Barnes in the middle's of Albury golden era, said Leslie had been the club's rock.
"Nobody would have touched the leather more than Xave Leslie in a Yarra jumper," Kennedy said.
"He's been a beauty.
"Xave's just been ultra-consistent and a real constant at the club.
"He rocks up to training with no fuss or carry on each year and you never have to worry about him talking to other clubs or things like that.
"A thing I've admired is he treats everyone the same at the club no matter who they are or what they do.
"He gets on with the whole club, not just the senior club players."
Leslie's first premiership coach, Bob Craig, said it would be difficult to find a more respected player in the Ovens and Murray.
"He's been a wonderful player and great servant," Craig said.
"Xave stands out as a great team man.
"He possesses what I call team spirit and gives 100 per commitment to the role.
"That rubs off on other people.
"He's definitely a stand-out when it comes to great team men.
"His courage and work ethic inspires teammates and he's part of a wonderful family."
Few have watched Leslie play more than long-time former Yarrawonga president Glenn Brear who has had front-row seats throughout his decorated career.
As well as winning many games for the Pigeons, Brear said the real estate agent had been equally as serviceable for the club off the ground.
"Xave's been fantastic," Brear said.
"He's just kept finding the ball year after year after year.
"He's also been good in helping look after a few larrikins over the years like Brendan (Fevola) and Timothy (Hargreaves).
"He would either be driving them somewhere or getting them out of trouble.
"Don't worry, Xave could carry on after a few red wines, but he's been good.
"If he wasn't a footballer he would have made a very good choir boy."
