Ruckman Tom Goodwin represented the VFL, but he won over the Roos' faithful with a willing display against Wodonga.
"It's absolutely huge for us," he said.
"Being at Coburg, we had a lot of kids coming down from the O and M and Corowa had some good kids, who would have a crack, but they die away in the last quarter.
"They would show glimpses and I think they showed something today (Saturday), a bit of steely resolve and that's what we ask of the boys.
"We're saying now, 'you know what? This is a different Corowa-Rutherglen, we're going to show a bit more now'."
