A white Land Rover Evoque, a silver Mazda CX-9 and a Mazda B2600 utility have been stolen between last Thursday and Wednesday.

The Land Rover was stolen in Corowa on Thursday night or Friday morning and was found alight at the corner of Kentucky Avenue and Balston Street in Lavington on Tuesday.

A stolen Mazda CX-9 came to police attention at 7am on Wednesday, with police pursuing the car on Telopea Street in Thurgoona.

The chase was called off for safety reasons.

A pursuit was initiated with the Mazda ute about two hours later on Corrys Road, but was again terminated.

The vehicle was found dumped on the Bandiana Link, while the Mazda was found on Maryville Way in Thurgoona.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and charged with police pursuit, car theft, being carried in a stolen car, unlicensed driving and more.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Stoltenberg on Thursday said drivers needed to secure their cars.

"It takes little effort for a thief to lift the handle of a car door and raid the contents of the vehicle, and it's a crime that can be easily avoided by simply locking your vehicle," he said.

"Being a victim of car theft is not only inconvenient and time consuming, it can also be extremely stressful, through loss of personal property or a financial loss but also loss of your sense of personal security.

"We call on the community to play their part in stopping the opportunity for these thieves to commit these thefts from cars by taking simple security steps."

It is an offence to leave cars unlocked.
