G'day, fishos. Wow, how good was the weather for our Easter break?

Hopefully, all you lucky buggers that got to go camping enjoyed it ... and were able to catch a fish or two at the same time.
From what we've been hearing, most areas fired pretty well
Dartmouth: was one of those that fired, with most fishos bagging at least a couple, with the best report I've heard being 10 for a day.
As we mentioned the previous week, apart from very early, you needed to get down a bit. Lead line is working well but there are a lot of fishos that believe you've gotta be around the 15 to 18-metre mark during the day to get any numbers.
Tassies or small minnow style lures, such as "Slim Minnows" behind your bomb at that depth, seem to be pretty successful.
Streams: were sensational in most areas.
I know it's early, but there's definitely been a lot of trout moving upstream.
I'm not saying it's a spawning run but a lot of quality fish are coming from areas you don't see them in during the summer and there's quite a few of them about in some streams.
Let's just say, it's not a full-blown spawning run, but they're giving it a lot of thought.
I heard of some great fish from the Mitta, Snowy Creek, Kiewa and others, so I think most fishos were happy with their Easter efforts.
Lake Hume: continued to be sensational for just about everyone that headed out that way.
Bait, trolling, jagger, Ice jig and plastics all took good numbers of fish and I don't know of anyone who didn't at least get a feed.
I was lucky enough to have a couple of mates, Rod Cockburn and Steve Kovacs from Wagga, join me on Monday and we had a ball.
We landed literally an esky full, having a ball catching them and not quite as much fun filleting and skinning them, which took about three and a half hours.
I know Rodney Claxton and son Lachlan also cleaned up the day before, giving away heaps to family and friends.
It's amazing how many friends you have when you're giving away redfin.
We caught all of ours on a combo of a couple of plastics, a larger, weighted one on the bottom and a smaller one above.
I also know of heaps of fishos who did well on yabbies and worms.
Haven't heard of a lot of yellas about, although one crew trolled for a while well into dark on Friday night and picked up six.
Could be well worth a try.
The Murray: both above and below the Hume didn't live up to expectations, unfortunately.
Both fished poorly, with only small numbers caught from quite a few fishos I've spoken to.
The Upper Murray apparently looked reasonably good but just didn't fire up, while the river below Albury had a bit of colour to it and the fishos I've spoken to were pretty disappointed with their efforts.
Mulwala: has been terrific. It's been fishing well for a while now and there's been quite a few big fish getting picked up as well.
I'm not sure how many meterys were caught over the break, but I know it was well into double figures! Among those whoppers, there was a lot of smaller fish picked up, as you'd expect.
All techniques worked - trolling, casting and bait, with quite a few of those big ones being caught on swimbaits and surface lures.
Of course, there were a lot of people out fishing, which obviously increases the chances of those big ones getting caught, but there's still no doubt they're on the chew.
The Bidgee: fished very well over the break, with a few of our Compleat Angler customers reporting good numbers anywhere from above Wagga to below Hay.
Bait fishos did well but there were a lot caught on spinnerbaits and, with mice being in big numbers in some areas, surface lures smashed it.
Tumut River: has been running reasonably low for a while now and is also going gangbusters for trout fishos using fly, lure or bait.
Eucumbene and Jindabyne: have both been ok, without setting the world on fire. There's been some solid fish coming from both and with this cooler change on us and a bit more rain predicted, now could be a good time to consider a trip. Predicted rains won't hurt those fish thinking about running to spawn up that way either.
