A red 2012 Holden VE Commodore was detected by officers travelling at 167km/h on the Hume Freeway at Wodonga on Thursday morning.
The car was travelling northbound after being stolen from Woodbine Avenue in Wangaratta about 4am.

It was also involved in a petrol drive off at APCO in Wangaratta.
A man and woman were possibly involved.
Sergeant Peter McGuffie urged members of the public to contact police if they see the car, which has registration 1EX9GE.
