Holes have been burnt into the slide at the upgraded Marimba Park playground.
Council has closed the slide and is seeking a replacement, with the remaining sections of the playground still open.
Members of the community reported the damage to Wodonga Council, which reopened the park after upgrades finished at the end of March.
New equipment has been installed including a multi-age unit with a variety of different play activities including two slides, rope climber, ladders, steering wheel and a fire pole.
The playground also features a spinning pyramid net climber, swings and a see-saw.
Council sought community feedback on the new design between August and September last year before commencing works.
Those with information on the vandalism should contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
