Steve Jones was taken by surprise when he earned a senior call up for Murray Magpies' clash against Culcairn at Urana Road Oval on Saturday.
It will be a special occasion for the 48-year-old father of four with his son, Spencer, 19, also in the side.
Steve played a full season at Murray Magpies in 2019, while Spencer played juniors at Albury and worked his way into the seniors at the Hume league club this year.
It's fair to say Steve didn't see it coming.
"I played reserves last weekend and they contacted me during the week and wanted me to play up," he said.
"I was very surprised, but I guess we've all got a role to play.
"It's going to be a hard day against Culcairn, they'll be pretty red-hot.
"It will be a good experience to play with the new breed coming out of Murray Magpies."

A talented soccer player in his younger days, Steve was part of New Zealand's under-19 team before he moved to Australia and played for 10 years with Albury-Wodonga Football Association powerhouse Albury United through the 1990s.
He then transitioned across to ski racing and competed in high-profile events such as the Southern 80 and Bridge to Bridge for another decade.
Football didn't come until Steve was into his 40s.
"I took the kids there (Murray Magpies) to play as a permit and they ended up wanting to get some extra players," he said.
"I went to training and thought I'd give it a go and I've been playing ever since.
"My older son Mason played with Murray two years ago, but he's back at Albury United.
"I played 10 minutes of seniors with him but he got injured and went off (laughs).
"I've got another son and daughter that play for Raiders in the juniors."
Spencer has been named to start on the ball and Steve will line up in defence.
"It might be my role to do a bit of enforcing," Steve added.
"I think I'll be pretty close to (Adam) Prior, so we'll see how we go. I think I'll have his (Spencer's) back and it won't be a drama."
Spencer has played in practice matches with his father, but is very keen for their first senior game together.
"It's only my second senior game," Spender said.
"It's very different from juniors, but I really enjoyed it.
"They're all a lot bigger than I'm used to and it was a bit better in general."
