Mrs Matijasevic officially took over the High Street business, previously named Bags N Boots, on April 1 from former owner Brad Lodding.
The new business owner said although she'd worked in retail a long time, owning and running a shop was an entirely new adventure.
"I'm excited, really excited," she said.
"It is a bit scary because I haven't had my own business before but the feedback has been fantastic. Hopefully with COVID and masks everything has passed."
Mrs Matijasevic said she decided to take over the shop after the former owner informed staff it would be closing.
"There are so many great customers out there, loyal customers," she said.
"I've still got the passion.
"I just really like helping them and there are so many people out there with really bad feet so it's great to help them."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Although the name changed in recent years from Bags N Boots to Zumii Shoes, the shop is possibly Wodonga's oldest shoe shop, Mrs Matijasevic said.
She said regulars had been ecstatic the shop was staying open and pleased a familiar face would be continuing its long legacy.
"I've had a lot of feedback saying thank goodness you're not closing Wodonga's longest running shoe shop," she said.
"I'm happy to keep it going and having the support of customers is great."
The new owner plans to increase the range of leather bags and wallets offered in store, while continuing to offer everything from slippers and orthopaedic shoes to high heels.
"I'll have the regular brands everyone loves plus a few extra ones I'll put on the shelves," she said.
Mrs Matijasevic said customers were the most important part of the business and one of the reasons she wanted to take up ownership.
