Former AFL player Sam Schulz (quad), 300-gamer Xavier Leslie (ankle) and fellow Morris medallist Tyler Bonat (quad) have missed the past two games.

"In the first game, I gave my quad a nick and then missed the next week, played the next game and then re-injured it at training," Bonat revealed.

"I was meant to get a scan on Tuesday, but the machine blew up (laughs).

"Maybe I can play this week, if I'm not 100 percent, hopefully the week after."

Yarrawonga faces Wangaratta Rovers and Corowa-Rutherglen in successive weeks, but then has a fortnight off.

The Pigeons were one of the four teams to play the opening weekend in late March, so they will join Albury in having May 15 off.

The league has scheduled its interleague bye for the following week, but the planned match against Goulburn Valley was postponed back in February over COVID concerns.

It will therefore be tempting for the Pigeons to adopt a conservative approach to the injuries of the seasoned trio, given that break.

"His (Leslie) ankle is crook, he's looking to get a jab to settle it down," coach Mark Whiley suggested.

"Given his age (35), we'll manage him week by week, we've got a bye in a couple of weeks, so we hope to get him after that, that might be the best option.

"Sam's done his quad, so we'll look to get him back after the bye as well."

Yarrawonga will host North Albury on May 29.

A number of footballers, at all levels, believe their injuries could be a result of having last year off due to COVID.

"It's just one of those things, building back into footy and I haven't played for a while, but running's one thing, playing is another," Bonat said.
