Thank-you for Anzac Day support
The City of Albury RSL sub-branch is sincerely grateful to the Albury community for their generous support with the sale of poppies and badges in the lead-up to Anzac Day. We were able to conduct both the Dawn and 10am commemorative services under a COVID safe plan. The march was held this year given the tight restrictions placed on us with the great support of Albury Council, Albury police, Defence members and the volunteers from the SES, St Johns and Albury Rescue.

Our local big brother appears
Has anyone noticed the surveillance cameras popping up in Wodonga?
Last week the large black cameras from Data Systems appeared on trees along Old Melbourne Road and were photographing traffic at the roundabouts. This week they have now moved to various trees along the Hume Freeway. Has there been any information posted as to why these cameras are around and what they are surveying?
I'd certainly like to know. I will be waiting a reply in The Border Mail.

IN OTHER NEWS:
Climate change a council focus
Once again your climate denying columnist David Everist rails against anyone taking any action to avert dangerous climate change (On the Wallaby, April 24). This time he says that councils should be more concerned about the condition of local roads than about climate change, saying "surely death from climate change would currently be miniscule compared to vehicle accidents". Deaths from heat waves alone are about half that of the road toll. When you add in deaths from other extreme weather events like storms and flooding, plus the deaths from a climate-damaged economy I suggest climate-related deaths would at least equal, if not exceed the road toll. What's more, while the road toll is slowly declining, all of the others are increasing.
If local councils focus their efforts according to the impacts on the community then climate change will be front and centre.
