After leading during both of their losses last weekend against Knox and Waverley, coach Brad Chalmers admitted the men need to sustain their effort if they want to take the next step.

So far their biggest margin in defeat has only been eight points.

"It gets to a point where you have to take the bull by the horns and make it happen," Chalmers said.

"That's where we're at.

"We just haven't been able to piece it all together.

"It only takes a couple of minutes in basketball for it to go against you."

Chalmers is hopeful guard Bijan Johnson will be fit to line-up against Kilsyth Cobras this weekend at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre.

It comes after Johnson was sidelined late in last round's double header due to knee concerns.

"He's pulled up ok and it seems to have just been a jolt to the knee," Chalmers said.

"He was feeling ok on Tuesday.

"We'll just see how he pulls up."

Shot accuracy is one area the Border outfit is hoping to see improved.

"We've been unlucky that we haven't shot the ball particularly well," Chalmers said.

"Hopefully we get a few things aligned for us this week and make some shots.

"We just need to be a bit better, and hopefully that'll be Saturday."

New Bandit Mitch Dance continued his impressive form on the weekend, while John Crnogorac also had a strong game against Knox.

The Bandits' men's game will get under way on Saturday in Albury at 8pm.
