A week on from their 6-1 thrashing of St Pats, they chalked up back-to-back wins for the first time this season - and did it in style.

There were two goals each for Kye McMillan and Noah Spiteri and one for Boomers coach Andrew Grove, who was peerless in central midfield.

"We started the season slowly and teams were probably wondering what we were doing because we weren't getting the results everyone expected," Grove said. "That pressure builds when it's not going your way so to get these two results, it lets everyone in the squad know this is how well we can play.

"We're taking our chances, playing great football and we've tightened up at the back as well. That performance was on par with last week. We kept to how we play in both games and it gives us confidence going into next week against United."

Three goals in 11 minutes gave Boomers a measure of control they never relinquished.

McMillan turned Brandon Vescio and slotted home the first, before Grove's low cross from the right was swept in by Spiteri. It was 3-0 in the 24^th minute, one straight ball splitting a static Hotspurs defence and McMillan neatly dinking the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Grove hit the base of the post with a fine strike from distance, although Jacob Schreiber passed up a golden opportunity at the other end. Matthew Mildren pulled off a good one-handed save to deny him but Schreiber should have buried his effort.

It was game over when Spiteri strolled in to double his tally within five minutes of the restart and Hotspurs looked a spent force after that.

Pieter Noordewier hit the underside of the bar from point-blank range before Grove picked out the bottom corner to complete the rout, 12 minutes from time.

"Boomers looked as sharp as I've seen them for a long time," Hotspurs coach James Eggleston said. "They're the best-drilled team we've played so far.

"Injuries are really hurting us - another three players down today - so we had a bit of inexperience out there and couldn't match the way they played."

Eggleston (hamstring) watched from the sidelines, while Jonathan Cochrane (hamstring), Kristian Hopwood (calf) and Kasey Beckett (knee) joined an injury list which already includes Brian Vanega, Matthew Townsend, Patrick Sibomana, Mitchell Aitken, Harrison Heath and Ben Porta.
