The Blues scored six tries to one to post a 30-6 win at Junee's Laurie Daley Oval.
Despite the scoreline, the Thunder produced a spirited display with an intercept from a cut-out pass right on half-time handing the Blues the momentum.
"It was 10-6 to Tumut and it was one of those ones that if it had cleared the defender we might well have scored," president Rick O'Connell explained.
Ultra consistent forward pairing Joe Lumb and Jon Huggett again excelled, winger Curtly Jenkinson had a fine game, while Ryhs Mitsch and halfback Andrew Smith were also serviceable.
After losing its first three games, including two heavy defeats to start the season, the Thunder was coming off an outstanding 22-18 win over premiers Gundagai.
