Having salvaged a point after trailing St Pats 4-0 last Sunday, the boot was on the other foot as they raced into a 3-0 lead away to bottom side Cobram.
Peter Donaldson opened the scoring and coach Kade Rixon netted twice to put Melrose in control with 34 minutes played.
But it was back to 3-2 by half-time, Spiros Vourgaslis and Mohd Hizam Rani giving Cobram hope.
Goals from Tarkyn Hyde and Nathan Thomas had Roar in front with 10 minutes to go before Shane Ellwood struck in the 90th minute to earn Melrose another dramatic point.
