Police were called to a property in McMonigles Lane about 6.15pm following reports of a trespasser.
It is alleged officers were confronted with an agitated man brandishing two guns.
Police attempted to negotiate with the man who then concealed himself on the property.
Three shots were fired during a stand off, causing the police to seek cover and retreat to safety.

A 38-year-old Craigieburn man has been charged with discharge a firearm reckless to the safety of police, conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and indictable assault police.
He was remanded to appear in the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
