Despite NSW not having a requirement to don face protection, Victorian commissioner Luke Wilson told ABC radio yesterday his fellow citizens are not free to be maskless in Albury during the latest COVID lockdown.
"No, you carry your rules with you," Mr Wilson said when asked if it was okay to remove the covering in NSW.
"When NSW set up the mirroring arrangement basically if you do cross over and if you're crossing over presumably for a lawful reason you bring your rules with you for that duration.
"The simplest way to deal with that is to keep following the Victorian rules for your period in NSW."
NSW commissioner James McTavish confirmed masks are required for Victorians in NSW and said there were provisions for penalties under NSW orders.
However, he conceded the rule was "extraordinarily difficult for NSW authorities to enforce" and a "lot of trust" was being put in people.
