Emergency services were alerted to the incident at an Epsom Street home in Chiltern about 2am on Tuesday.
A man and woman were inside the home when entry was forced.
The man was allegedly assaulted and received medical treatment for facial injuries.
A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and was assisting Wodonga family violence investigators with their inquiries.

"If anyone in that vicinity saw any vehicles of interest in the early hours of this morning, it would be good if they could notify Crime Stoppers," Sergeant Brendan Roche said.
Family violence officers also arrested another man, 34, over an unrelated matter.
He was taken in for questioning over jet ski thefts, drug possession, burglary and order breaches.
