An elderly couple have escaped without serious injury after their vehicle crashed into a light pole in Lavington.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Sanders Road and Prune Street, outside the entry to Lavington Square, about 12.10pm yesterday.
Police believe the car accelerated out of control, hit a gutter and collided with the light post.
The car hit with such force, the vehicle's number plate almost wrapped around on itself with extensive front end damage.

The car's airbags were deployed and the windscreen damaged.
The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
The female driver managed to get out of the car but the passenger, a man in his 80s, needed assistance.
There were concerns the man had chest pain.
He was assessed by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Albury hospital in a stable condition.
The driver was left shaken by what occurred but wasn't hospitalised.
