The successful city-based purchaser fought off four other contenders for the three bedroom property at 30 Church Street for $465,000, a price well in excess of pre-auction expectations.

The home near Sumsion Gardens and close to central Wodonga was auctioned by Wodonga Real Estate after being postponed when the latest statewide COVID lockdown started more than a fortnight ago.

The Church Street address was last sold 18 years ago for $145,000 and had been a rental property in recent times.

Agent Clinton Harvey said the final selling price easily eclipsed the $430,000 reserve and provided further proof of the booming property market.

"It is a continuation of the strong interest in central Wodonga properties," he said.

"From this one you can see High Street from the back window and you can also see water at Sumsion Gardens from the front window.

"The successful purchaser was on the phone from Melbourne.

"The under bidder, who has local ties, was also from Melbourne and on the phone to family at the auction.

"As it turned the vendor was also stuck in Melbourne and remembering this auction was postponed because of COVID."

A four bedroom home in West Wodonga was also sold under the hammer for $470,000 on Saturday.

The property is located at 2 Medinah Court and was auctioned by Brian Unthank Real Estate.

It previously sold in 2018 for $347,500.

Meanwhile, the home in Castle Creek Road the late Alan and Val Brady built in the early 1970s was passed in at auction on Saturday on a vendor bid of $1,050,000.

Post auction negotiations have commenced between agents Elders Wodonga and an interstate investor for the home known as Ruscomadan.

Albury auctions took a Queen's Birthday weekend pause, but they return with a vengeance on Saturday with high interest in a 1950s art deco three bedroom home in Forrest Hill Avenue going under the hammer.

A five bedroom art deco home in nearby Lindsay Avenue sold in late March for $1.32 million.

Stean Nicholls were the agents for the Lindsay Avenue property, previously owned by the Abikhair family, and have also been engaged for the Forrest Hill Avenue home.

The latter last sold in 2009 at auction for $475,000.

Also, expected to be keenly sought after is a two bedroom home in David Street, close to central Albury.

It's also being auctioned by Stean Nicholls on Saturday.
