In an open letter to Scott Morrison, 59 eminent Australians including former judges and former member for Indi Cathy McGowan declared "Enough is enough. The establishment of a National Integrity Commission with teeth is long overdue."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Member for Indi Helen Haines, who has presented her own federal integrity commission bill to the lower house, was joined by signatories David Harper, Anthony Whealy and Bill Browne in Canberra on Tuesday.
"Both sides of politics went to the election with a commitment a federal integrity commission would be established," she said.
"Nearly 1000 days later we don't even have a bill presented to the house."
Dr Haines said there was nothing to indicate the election promise would be met, which was "deeply worrying." Mr Harper, a former Victorian Supreme Court Judge, said the coalition's continued delays could "no longer be tolerated".
