Wodonga Raiders will be without Tim Haines for one week after he was suspended by the Ovens and Murray tribunal on Wednesday night.
Haines was found guilty of a rough conduct charge involving Wangaratta star Michael Newton.
The key defender pleaded guilty to the charge.
The suspension means the Raiders will be without both their key defenders when they host Albury.
Young defender Mitch Thomas went down with a knee injury against former side North Albury in round 8.
Thomas underwent surgery to repair a meniscus tear on Tuesday.
The Raiders will be forced to reshuffle their defence against Albury.
The Tigers boast the second best attacking record in the competition behind Wangaratta.
Meanwhile, Yarrawonga's Tyler Lovell has escaped with a reprimand after also facing a rough conduct charge.
Lovell pleaded guilty but will be free to play against North Albury on Saturday.
