An Albury man has been sentenced more than four years after subjecting his ex-partner of 27 years to abusive text messages.
Defence lawyer Paul Keane said Tony Craig White, 46, had a lengthy record, but since that offending in 2017 "he's been absolutely quiet".
Mr Keane said the former Wodonga man had turned his life around, largely because of him finally kicking a long-standing illicit drug addiction.

Magistrate Richard Funston asked on Tuesday why it had taken so long for White's matters to come before Albury Local Court
In response, prosecutor Sergeant Nicole Peacock said a warrant for White's arrest was not issued until early May.
White admitted on Tuesday to using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend, intimidation and to failing to appear on bail.
The fail to appear matter related to White not fronting court over the other two charges back on June 19, 2018.
White was living in Melbourne at the time and had missed a train back to Albury to answer the charges.
The court was told that White and his partner had split-up about two years before the incident from April 18, 2017.
About 7.30pm the victim received a text message from White about her new partner, threatening: "I'm still gunna stomp on his head in the gutter."
At 11.42pm White said he would "f**ken stomp both you c**ts" and called her boyfriend a "junkie scumbag".
More offensive texts followed in which White called her a "junkie slut".
Police said the victim was "terrified" as White was unpredictable and had assaulted her in the past.
White was placed on a 12-month community corrections order and, on the fail to appear charge, was convicted and fined $500.
