Fifth-placed Raiders led the home team by 29 points at three-quarter time before the Pigeons launched a withering five-goal burst.
However, the youthful Raiders held on to win 11.5 (71) to 9.7 (61).
"It was a great effort by all the young boys, their midfield really got on top with their experienced players (Mark) Whiley, Harry Wheeler, Xavier Leslie, but the Clarke boys (Hayden and Dylan) kept scrapping in there," defender Shane Munro, who turned 30 on Sunday, offered.
Connor Newnham kicked six goals to win the club's best for a second successive week, ruckman Issac Muller continued his strong form of the past seven weeks, while ex-Port Melbourne defender Liam Delahunty impressed on debut.
