The Albury export was left out of the 16-strong Hockeyroos squad last month, despite featuring in Australia's recent Trans-Tasman series against New Zealand.
For previous Olympics, reserves could replace a player in the team of 16 if they are injured or suffer an illness.
However, for Tokyo 2020, teams can be reselected ahead of every match in line with a process to be determined for each sport.

The number of players for matches will remain at 16, but teams can pick from their reserves prior to each match, with the exception of the reserve goalkeeper.
Bartram will only get an opportunity if first-choice goalkeeper Rachael Lynch is not fit to play.
The Olympics run from July 23 to August 8.
