When the Victorian government announced a lockdown extension earlier this week, "minor changes" to authorised providers were announced.

It gave the official go-ahead to pet grooming mobile services that can be undertaken outdoors in a contactless manner.

The Happy Hound owner Kelsie Aldred thought that was paw-some news.

"It can be really hard to get the right information ... often people ask us if we're allowed to be at their place," she said.

"It's great that's (confirmation) come out.

"A lot of people think you're just washing dogs, but that's not the case.

"Dogs' nails and ears can be a real issue if you don't look after them.

"In Sydney, a lot of the groomers were concerned about the welfare of dogs and petitioned to get something sorted out."

Ms Aldred said her work was split 50/50 across each state and she had received confirmation previously to operate in Victoria, as a owner-operator based on the NSW side.

"It's really tough going for everyone in Victoria - I've been lucky," she said.

"We had a few people in Tallangatta we couldn't get out to because of the bubble (when the border closed).

"Some people are a bit worried, but we make sure there's no contact.

"We do all of our bathing, clipping and styling in the truck - basically whatever they need.

"We've got a lot of elderly customers that can't go to groomers because they don't drive."

Fur-tunate for the Border's dogs, Ms Aldred is busier than ever.

"It has been busy in COVID because everyone's home and got time to focus on their dogs," she said.

"I really like poodles - their hair is really easy to work with.
