Both teams were affected by unavailabilities, due to Victoria's lockdown, with the Magpies potentially cruelling their chances of a first win with an inaccurate 2.5 in the first quarter.
The Power trailed by 11 points, but kicked four goals in the second stanza in the 7.10 (52) to 6.9 (45) thriller.
"The weather was bad, so we just had to grind it out," winning captain Russell Anderson admitted, with the club's coaching staff of John Pratt, Mick Collins and Corey Smith all stuck in Victoria.
The visitors landed only two goals to four after half-time, but that second term surge was enough with Ryan Mills and Brett O'Rourke kicking two goals apiece.
On-baller Andrew Phibbs was terrific in slippery conditions, while Anderson and Cody Kuschert also featured.
