She had earlier suffered an arm injury at a family get-together and was shot while retrieving a first aid kit from her father's car in the driveway.
Albury Local Court has heard how Scott Matthew Coleman became obsessed with the gel blaster firearm after he bought the gun online for $170, along with $30 of ammunition.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It was estimated he fired at least 30,000 rounds in the time between getting the illegal weapon in late August and his arrest on September 1.
Coleman, 27, who remains in custody bail refused, has been committed for sentence before the District Court on August 27.
He pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including assault police, possessing an unauthorised, prohibited firearm and fire a firearm in or near a public place.
Magistrate Richard Funston was told Coleman bragged about the weapon in a phone call to a mate in Junee jail, Jaydon Moon, on August 30.
The gel blaster, he told Moon, was similar to a "big, f***ing machine gun that shoots gun bullets" and that he enjoyed firing away at his neighbours.
MORE ON SCOTT MATTHEW COLEMAN:
The teenager was at her parents' home with some family friends, including two children aged four and two.
They had dinner then, about 7pm, moved on to the front verandah to have some drinks.
The teenager then went to her father's car in the driveway to get the first aid kit.
"As the victim was looking in the boot of the vehicle she heard a 'poof' sound and felt things hitting her in the back and on the back of the head," police said.
"Each time a gel blaster (shot) hit the victim it caused her to feel a sharp pain, followed by a tingling sensation."
Two of the group helped her but Coleman kept firing gel ball pellets at the house, the impact sounding like rain on the roof.
The victim's father then yelled out: "Stop shooting or I'll shove it up your a*** ."
The attack lasted about 20 minutes and, afterwards, the victim found it difficult to breathe.
During his arrest that night, after being handcuffed, Coleman told police: "I'll f***ing take youse all c***s."
Large quantities of gel blaster ammunition were found throughout Coleman's house, including in a fish tank.
