A magistrate has rebuked a man for not getting a pre-sentence report done over an attack on his partner in her Thurgoona home.

Boe W.K. Makiri was meant to be sentenced in Albury Local Court this week over the assault, during which he slapped and kicked the woman.
But this couldn't go ahead after the court heard Makiri had failed to contact NSW Community Corrections over the report, which was ordered by magistrate Richard Funston in late June.

Defence lawyer Mitchell Brooks told the court that Makiri had not received any correspondence over the report as his mail was going to a previous address.
Also, Mr Brooks said Makiri had advised the court, when he had to apply for a change to his bail conditions, of his new address in Melbourne, where he now worked.
Mr Funston accepted the excuse, though said it would not have been difficult for Makiri to "show some initiative".
"You know, it's not the Children's Court," he told Makiri, who previously pleaded guilty to destroy or damage property, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
Mr Funston said what counted in Makiri's favour was him embarking on a men's behavioural change program in Melbourne.
Prosecutor Sergeant Nicole Peacock said a report was crucial as "these are very serious offences".
attacked his partner on June 9 after an argument about their child.
He struck her twice and threw toys at her face, causing a cut near her eye that bled, and at a window, which broke.
He will be sentenced on September 14.
