Mayor misses COVID mark
The comments by the Indigo Mayor in The Border Mail (Tuesday, July 2021) are both misguided and inappropriate.

The mayor would be far better employed in strenuously challenging the Victorian State Government's frequent lockdowns of the Victorian Regional Shire of Indigo that she is employed to represent.
Indigo Shire has not recorded any COVID cases since the pandemic commenced.
The Indigo Mayor's time would be better spent banging on the doors of the Victorian Premier and local government representatives to gain regional local government area exemption for Indigo Shire from statewide lock-downs.
The apparent lack of public engagement on this issue, which has had an ongoing detrimental effect on the Indigo community members and their livelihood, has been deafening.
I live in Beechworth and value the positive interaction with the community of Albury-Wodonga, including commercial and medical services.
The representatives of Indigo Shire and its community should be committed to working with and supporting our NSW neighbour in their time of crisis.

Historical society move an insult
In reference, to Joan Peters letter (July 28), as a ratepayer and historian residing in Wodonga I truly am disgusted with the council's decision to relocate 'The Historical Society' to Bonegilla.
Even though their present building over the years has been inadequate as far to supporting large varieties of memorabilia plus making it sometimes difficult for volunteers to work within a confided environment, it is located centrally and in easy access for Wodonga residents.
Some years ago I had attended a ratepayers meeting held at the German Austrian Club Wodonga, and expressed my thoughts to two councilors in attendance regarding a possible relocation of the society as well as incorporating a modern facility in a central location in Wodonga.
I went away from the meeting feeling that my message fell on deaf ears as my realistic views were put on the backburner, and so I feel council have once again taken a backward step by disregarding one of the city's most valuable historical assets that should be showcased to the public, incorporating a modern facility centrally located in the city.
A viable location would be within the location of the library and senior citizens building.
Personally for me history is the foundation stone within any society and should be treasured by living generations to come.

Hub news would add to coverage
Firstly I would like to applaud The Border Mail on its coverage of the current COVID-19 situation that has been affecting all border residents.
My only concern is the lack of updates coming from or about our vaccination hub.
I was surprised when I got my first Pfizer shot (July 29, 2021) that I booked and was in the next day, previously I had tried to book and would of had to wait weeks.
Maybe greater coverage would help us keep tally of the progress of this important asset while maintaining interest in its vital success.
