Scott Coates allegedly assaulted co-accused Lochlan Nixon-May in December last year, hours after the pair abducted the teenager and attacked him in a Wodonga home.
The Wodonga Magistrates Court heard Coates "was yelling that he (Nixon-May) deserved it" in front of police after the assault.
The court heard Nixon-May made a statement saying he "woke up in a police cell and can't remember anything" after the abduction and assault.
The alleged abduction victim had been due to give evidence on the second day of a committal, but wasn't required.
