After 14 rounds, the Lions found their winning formula to overcome Henty 40-31 at Henty.
"I'm so proud of the girls, the feeling was just fantastic for both the girls and I," Gibbons said.
"It's taken a while, but they're finally starting to find their feet."
Lions' goalers Jess McAliece and Nicola Gledhill helped the team to victory with their accuracy in the ring.
Culcairn has battled through multiple injury concerns this season, with Gibbons sidelined for the last eight weeks with plantar fasciitis and shin fractures.
After taking on the A-grade job at just 18-years-old, she admitted the time off court has been a blessing in disguise.

"I think it's kind of better that I've stepped back to let the injuries heal and just take coaching on," she said.
"It was a bit hard at first playing and then coming off court and giving feedback.
"It was the better decision for me to just step back and focus on coaching."
It marked Henty's first time back on the court since July 10, after having to forfeit their last clash due to restrictions on their Victorian players.
Culcairn will now prepare to face CDHBU for their next game.
"We're hoping to have a close match-up," GIbbons said.
"It was just great for the girls to get their first win.
"They did themselves, me and the club proud."
