At the 10-minute mark of the final quarter in the home game, Shannon Terlich marked 30m from goal and unselfishly handballed to Ellis, who drilled the shot and then raised his hands and yelled in jubilation.
"That's his first goal in about 10 years mate, he's played 200 games at fullback, so I had to give him one," Terlich laughed.
The 2014 premiership player celebrated his 200-game milestone in May.
"I couldn't even tell you when I kicked my last one, it would have to be four years minimum," Ellis suggested.
Of course, the goal will now put a halt to a traditional event for Ellis.
