Big thanks to amazing community
My name is Danielle, and today (Saturday) I had the most heart warming experience, and it was thanks to the local people of Albury-Wodonga.

I live in Tamworth NSW, and my brother, who lives in Melbourne, was snowboarding at Falls Creek yesterday when he was involved in a boarding accident. He was taken to Falls Creek hospital by snow ambulance, and then transferred on to Albury Hospital.
With parents in Bendigo who were panicked and couldn't get across the border to the hospital, and myself 10 hours away, we were desperately needing to get some assistance to my brother, who was in an unfamiliar town, and in a horrible circumstance. My brother's phone was going flat and this would have made it hard to be able to stay in contact with him, for us to know any updates. So I contacted Albury taxi service to see if I could pay for a charger and taxi fare and get it delivered, unfortunately we were not able to make it work.
I contacted Big W, and they deliver, but unfortunately not until Monday.
So I then wrote a post on the Albury Wodonga Community Information page on Facebook, and my vocabulary is nowhere near extensive enough to be able to put into words how I felt when I saw the instant response from the Albury-Wodonga community.
IN OTHER NEWS:
To say it was overwhelming would be the biggest understatement I had ever spoken.
Within five minutes of my post, I was contacted by no less than 10 locals, and within the hour I must have had 30 or more people waiting to help. An amazing local rang me, and offered to buy a phone charger, and anything else my brother needed and take it immediately to the hospital. I explained I would cover all the cost and more.
An amazing lady by the name of Des not only organised a charger, but a get well package, lollies and more, and had it taken straight to the hospital, and then when I tried to talk to her about organising payment for this, she then said her family would like to pay it forward to our family and wouldn't accept any money. Needless to say I was reduced to tears, and completely overwhelmed, as was my family.
Anyway, I think that the amazing community spirit and selflessness, kindness and generosity shown by the Albury-Wodonga locals today, needs to be applauded. You all should be so very proud to be a part of such an amazing community.
Today, my faith in humanity and country Aussie folk was completely restored.
From the bottom of my heart, thank-you Albury-Wodonga, you have done yourself proud.

Praise for outdoor sporting facility
The Andrews Street outdoor basketball courts, near PCYC, are a great community facility for Albury. My son and I have enjoyed playing there quite a bit in the past month and we've seen other family groups also using the courts and having fun.
Well done to everyone involved in their construction.
Lyndal Duggan, East Albury
