Eye-catching performances for Murray United in the NPL have earned Ruby Lloyd, Charlotte Laird, Poppy O'Keeffe, Annie Yates, Amelia Yates and Tahlia Alvey a place in Melbourne Victory's elite academy program.
They'll travel to Melbourne once a week for training under Victory's W-League head coach Jeff Hopkins.
"This means every girl at Murray has now been asked to join," Murray's technical director Adam Carty said.
"That's how the system should work; a nice short step between girls in the country and the opportunity to train with an A-League club.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"We haven't got enough support for a WNPL side but the hidden blessing is that our girls are allowed to play in the boys' competitions.
"It's definitely an advantage for their development, especially through the younger age groups, because of the speed of the game, the space they don't have and the level of competition they wouldn't otherwise get.
"The talent is certainly there."
