When she saw an article on Facebook about a woman in the US baking cakes for foster children for their birthdays, "it was a no brainer really".
Sarah, who loves baking, reached out to the local Anglicare branch at the start of 2021 and offered to bake birthday cakes for foster kids.
Brought up to believe you should always give back to your community, she'd found a cause that's been the icing on the cake for her commitment to helping others.
"These children are in the system through no fault of their own and they've usually had a pretty rough start to life," she said.
"They deserve to feel special and be spoilt."
To date she's made 30 beautifully decorated creations but with five children to bake for in August, she reached out to the community to ask if they would donate $25 towards a cake.
Within days, she had enough funds ($700 to date) to make another 25 cakes for local foster children, which will take her up to Christmas.
She also jokingly asked if there were any "benefactors that could potentially own a lolly factory that would be great too".
Already this bubbly Table Top mum of two has received several heartwarming hand-written notes of thanks from the young people she has baked a sweet surprise for.
"A thankyou is really special," she said.
"You have to remember so many of these kids turn up (to foster care) with a plastic bag of clothes and a toothbrush."
And in fact, in what started as a bit of a hobby has turned into fully fledged business with Sarah recently officially starting Sarah's Cakes and Desserts.
"I had friends and family telling me I should sell my cakes; but at first I was no no I'm not good enough, but I soon started to realise I actually was and I was getting better," she said.
"I still have a lot to learn and it was then I thought why not?"
Anglicare is currently urgently seeking foster carers and Sarah asks anyone who might be interested to contact the local branch at Albury.
Her dream is to have bakers across Australia baking for kids "who deserve all the love we can give them".
"I'd love to see all the foster care agencies included so not one child is missed," Sarah said.
"I'm sure there are thousands of children in the foster care system and I know it is a pretty big dream but If I put it out there in the universe you never know what might happen."
