Albury High School has abandoned plans for its Centenary Plus One celebrations in October owing to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

The original weekend program was due to be held in October 2020.

Principal Darryl Ward said the organising committee was disappointed, but many unknowns remained around hosting events and the need to give visitors sufficient time to book accommodation and travel.

"It was the only logical decision that we could make given our past history and experiences with lockdowns," he said.

"You could turn up here and the event may or may not go ahead.

"It just got too hard to organise it."

Instead a video giving a school tour is being compiled to send out to people on the centenary mailing list.

A display at Albury Library Museum will go ahead while some copies of the 100th anniversary book released last year are still available.

Mr Ward thanked members of the committee, led by former principal Ian Crossley, for their efforts over the past three years.

"Look out for 110 years, I guess," he said with a smile.
