A mix of Wodonga Raiders' old and new guided the home team to a 46-point win over the improving North Albury in the Ovens and Murray Football League on Saturday.
Youngsters Tom Bracher, Hayden Clarke and livewire Max Beattie were terrific, while coach Jarrod Hodgkin and fellow seasoned campaigner Shane Munro also excelled in the 14.15 (99) to 7.11 (53) win.
"We knew that we'd be scratchy after not playing for five weeks and we haven't been able to train (due to COVID restrictions) apart from the last week, so we weren't up to our full fitness base, but we got through it which is the main thing," captain Brad St John suggested.
The match was over at quarter-time when the home team bolted to a 37-point lead, keeping the visitors goalless in the first half.
Powerful forwards Isaac Muller and Connor Newnham kicked three goals apiece, while Carter Norman did likewise in a gritty effort for the Hoppers.
