Rutherglen's Tess Palubiski and Albury's Eden Davis have been named in train-on squads for Hockey Club Melbourne - Victoria's premier open age team, which competes on the national stage in the Hockey One competition.

It's another feather in the cap of Palubiski, who earlier this year earned selection into Hockey Australia's women's future talent squad after her impressive performance for Victoria at the under-18 national championships back in April.

"When it came out I was a little bit shocked because it wasn't something I had considered in the short term, it was probably more in the future," she said.

"I got asked to join in one of their training sessions down there and they selected the team, reserves and the development squad.

"It's really based on our development as future Hockey Club Melbourne players and help us with the ins and outs of the games and seeing different perspectives, because it is a big step up.

"Going from an under-18 competition to making the under-21 team and now going into a women's side, even though there's players around my age, there's very different expectations.

"I think it will be really good for future prospects in terms of my hockey pathway."

Palubiski was set to represent Victoria at the under-21 national championships in Sydney last month, but it has been rescheduled for February next year due to COVID restrictions.

Davis has taken his game to another level this year with strong form for competition leaders Camberwell in Melbourne's Premier League.

His selection is particularly impressive given his dress rehearsal, the men's under-21 national championships, have been postponed twice.

Davis is no stranger to the national stage either, having made the All-Australian boys hockey team as a 16-year-old in 2018 and winning gold with the school side at a four nations event in Germany.
