More than $17,000 has been raised since this GoFundMe page was launched to support Chris Gash's family.
Gash has been involved with coaching junior teams at Cobram Roar for several years and the whole club has been rocked by his diagnosis.
"Chris is a massive asset to our club," president Paul Bovalina said.
"I'm still in shock about the whole situation.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"It's devastating for them and the club because of how much they're involved. Being a small community, everyone knows everyone.
"Chris can't do much at the moment and he's left a big hole in the coaching department at Cobram Roar.
"Hopefully things have a positive turn for him but we've got a long battle ahead.
"At the moment, he can't work so anything people can give will take a bit of pressure off the finance side of things so the family can concentrate on him trying to get well."
