The NSW Senior Open, the richest event ($120,000) on the Legends Tour, for those 50 and over, won't be held at the Thurgoona Country Club Resort for the second straight year due to COVID.
"There was no option, it was realistically the only decision that could be made," Golf NSW general manager of golf Graeme Phillipson explained.
"We looked at other potential dates, in conjunction with the PGA of Australia, but it just wasn't possible to reschedule."
The NSW Senior Open was first held at Thurgoona in 2017 and ran for three years until COVID also intervened last year.
It has attracted some of the biggest names in Australian golf from the 1980s and 90s, including British Open winner Ian Baker-Finch and multiple world winner Peter Senior.
"It was really building, the names we've been able to attract and just the general popularity of the tournament with the public, as well as our members, it was gaining a lot of traction, it's unfortunate but that's the (COVID) climate we're living in," Thurgoona Country Club Resort general manager Adam Fitzgerald offered.
However, there is a positive with Thurgoona and its 'mother' club Liverpool Catholic Club extending the deal to host the Open for another three years, starting in 2022.

"Yes, 100 percent, we're still committed for another three tournaments," Fitzgerald said.
